UNC says they are ready for Local Government Elections

The United National Congress (UNC) says they are ready for the upcoming Local Government elections.

The party released a statement this evening saying they’ve completed a rigorous screening exercise, in which around 600 people interested in serving their communities presented themselves for consideration.

On Tuesday 1st October, the party hosted a series of training workshops for its Local Government candidates to prepare them for the elections.

The UNC’s Political Leader, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar has mandated that all candidates presenting themselves for office on a UNC ticket must be trained so that they can develop the critical skills needed to provide outstanding service to their burgesses.

“The UNC has been working in the communities, hearing the concerns of the people and presenting our plans to fix the problems created by the ruling PNM administration,” UNC Public Relations Officer, Senator Anita Haynes said.

“Our Political Leader, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has presented a clear roadmap for the development of Trinidad and Tobago at both the local and national levels,” she said.

“We are confident that when the next Local Government election is called, the people will choose the team and leader that can get the job done.”
