UNC Proposing Ministry Of National Security Be Restructured

The United National Congress is suggesting the Ministry of National Security be restructured.

UNC claims the present system is flawed adding the opposition proposal is based on best practise.

Opposition Leader, Kamla Persad Bissessar, made the recommendation while speaking during the UNC Monday Night Forum.

Mrs Persad Bissessar proposed the ministry be split into two, with focus placed on Homeland Affairs and Defence.

MP Persad Bissessar said the recommendation is based on best practise around the world.

The Homeland Affairs section will deal with internal law enforcement, policing, response, detection and apprehension.

The Ministry of Defence the Opposition Leader said will concentrate on border protection; form a network to work with international allies in intelligence and joint operations and emphasis to deal with terrorist activities.
