UNC PRO says protests across the country due to increased gas prises necessary

This morning throughout the country the Opposition United National Congress stood up with citizens and supporters to protest the hike in fuel prices.

This is according to UNC PRO Kirk Meighoo who commented on protest action taken from early this morning.

From today the price of fuel in Trinidad and Tobago has been increased. Finance Minister Colm Imbert, announced the increase in Parliament, on April 07th, that premium gasoline will increase by $1 per litre to $6.75; super gasoline will increase by $1 from $4.97 per litre to $5.97; the price of diesel will increase by 50 cents to $3.91 per litre and the price of kerosene has been increased to $3.50.

The Government has indicated the increase is to offset the almost 2 billion fuel subsidy bill annually in the country.

Speaking with News Power Now this morning, Meighoo referred to the hike in gas prices as unjustified and terribly timed.

He said that protest action has been taken throughout the country.
