UNC MP: Rowley’s absence is proof that Local Govt meeting was “not important”

St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen has again defended the UNC’s decision to boycott Tuesday’s Local Government stakeholder meeting.

She claimed that the meeting held little importance.

Ms Ameen told Power `102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show that this was evidenced by the Prime Minister’s decision to not attend virtually as planned.

She explained that if it was important, he would have still attended regardless of the absence of the UNC councillors.

She also condemned the threats which UNC councillor Samuel Sankar of Kelly Village/Warrenville received after he attended against the wishes of the UNC leadership.

The former councillor said while she is unaware of the threats, he is free to reach out to her for the necessary support.
