UNC councillor crosses the floor

Ahead of local Government elections which are due by March 2023, comes news that UNC councillor Kelly Village/Warrenville councillor, Samuel Sankar, has crossed the floor.

The announcement was made at Tuesday night’s PNM meeting at Signature Hall in Chaguanas.

Sankar sat in the front row amongst his new colleagues as the announcement was made by PNM Senator Renuka Sangramsingh, to loud cheers from PNM supporters.

Sankar received death threats after he defied an order from UNC leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar for her party’s councillors to stay away from a Local Government reform consultation held in August of this year.

He reported the threats to the police but no further update was given on the matter.
