Public Relations Officer for the United National Congress, Kirk Meighoo in a release claims the U.S Embassy travel advisory is targeting the ‘People’s National Movement stronghold’ areas – namely Laventille, Beetham, Sea Lots, Cocorite Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain.
Meighoo in the release further states that “the world is noting the health and criminal disaster that Dr. Keith Rowley has created in Trinidad and Tobago and, sadly, United States citizens have been advised accordingly.”

The US has downgraded Trinidad and Tobago’s Travel Status from Level 3 (“Reconsider Travel”) to Level 4 (“Do Not Travel”). The instructions from the US Government to its citizens are: “Do not travel to Trinidad and Tobago due to restricted travel options put in place to prevent COVID-19. Exercise increased caution in Trinidad and Tobago due to crime, terrorism, and kidnapping. Some areas have increased risk.” They warn: “Violence and shootings occur regularly in some areas of Port of Spain.”
Specifically, the US Government has advised its citizens DO NOT TRAVEL to Laventille (MPs Fitzgerald Hinds and Adrian Leonce), Beetham (MP Fitzgerald Hinds), Sea Lots (MP Keith Scotland), Cocorite (MP Symon de Nobriga), and the interior of Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain (MP Stuart Young) due to crime. US government personnel are prohibited from travelling to those areas at all, and also to downtown Port of Spain (MP Keith Scotland) and Fort George overlook (MP Symon de Nobriga) after dark.
These are all areas ruled by the PNM continuously since 1956 up to today — 65 years of dereliction of duty and abuse of trust. They include seats held by the current Minister of National Security and the (recently) former Minister of National Security.
Yet the US Government has declared these very seats the most dangerous areas in all of Trinidad and Tobago.
We need to connect these dots, and correct our actions to save our country. If Dr. Keith Rowley, Fitzgerald Hinds, and Stuart Young have failed so spectacularly to provide security for the people of Port of Spain and Cocorite after 65 years of rule, then it is impossible for them to now provide safety and security for Trinidad and Tobago as a whole. We witness this truth every single day under the PNM and Rowley’s misrule.
The appointment of Fitzgerald Hinds to lead the Ministry of National Security is the latest slap in the face to the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
PNM anarchy and lawlessness not only destroys the physical security and lives of our citizens, but also our economy and livelihoods.
This is the total opposite of what other Governments are doing in our neighbouring Caribbean islands. While the US instructs its citizens “DO NOT TRAVEL” to Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Grenada are opening up to vaccinated travellers.
It is only a matter of time before the PNM turn the whole of Trinidad and Tobago into the crime hellholes that they have turned their stronghold areas into.
With resolve, each and every citizen must commit themselves to save Trinidad and Tobago from the pandemic that is the PNM.
