UN, THA Tackling Gender Based Violence Through Spotlight Initiative

The United Nations is actively supporting Non-Governmental Organisations by providing them with the necessary resources to conduct trainings and awareness initiatives on several aspects of gender-based violence.

A media release from the Tobago House of Assembly’s Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection said those NGOs include the Roxborough Police Youth Club, Rotary Tobago, Women of Substance and Lilly Foundation.

Discussions also solidified key areas of collaboration between both organisations.

The Division will support the UN by facilitating several training and awareness initiatives.

These include a “train the trainer” initiative, whereby key medical staff at the Tobago Regional Health Authority will be trained to better identify cases of gender based violence, and they will be updated on clinical best practices that are effective in managing persons who experience gender based violence.
