Celebrity addresses posted online- UK Gov’t apologises for mistake

The UK Cabinet office has apologised for its blunder which saw the addresses of some of this year’s New Year Honour recipients published online.

Each year the list honours lawmakers, celebrities and senior police officers who are recognized for arts, sciences, athletics and other accomplishments. This year’s list include singer Sir Elton John, and three Trinidadians: Television Presenter, Floella Benjamin; Actor Rudolph Walker; and Singer Billy Ocean.

A statement from the Government said “A version of the New Year Honours 2020 list was published in error which contained recipients’ addresses. The information was removed as soon as possible. We apologise to all those affected and are looking into how this happened.”

The list of honours is published twice for the year: at New Year’s and at the Queen Elizabeth’s birthday. A record number of 1097 people will be honoured in 2020. They receive their medals during one of 30 ceremonies held throughout the year by the Queen at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.
