Ukraine Grain Deal To Consider African Nations In Need

Turkey’s President says a deal to free up grain exports from Ukraine will consider African countries struggling with supplies.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had discussed sending grain to African countries.

Mr Erdogan made the comments while speaking in an interview with Turkish broadcaster ATV.

In July, the grain deal was brokered by the United Nations and Turkey.

It brought an end to a five-month Russian blockade of Ukrainian ports that trapped millions of tonnes of grain and sunflower oil and sent food prices soaring.

On November 19th the deal ends and those involved still have to agree on extending it.

Russia had suspended support for grain exports.

However, Russia agreed this week to restart its participation in the agreement.
