The Urban Development Corporation (Udecott) will soon be proceeding with the construction of the San Fernando Waterfront Car Park, now that the deeds for the land have been signed.
The signing of deeds took place on Tuesday at Udecott’s head office, Sackville Street, Port of Spain and involved the owners of the land, the South-West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) and Udecott.
Udecott will be the project manager and their responsibilities will be to build, operate and maintain the facility.
The eight-storey car park will have spaces for 1,002 cars, elevators, a wireless cash payment system, security and video surveillance.
The estimated cost of the car park is $118,398,806.70.
Udecott deputy chairman Jacqueline Ganteaume-Farrell, said “Now that the land is duly leased to Udecott we can proceed with the construction of the modern, multi-storey car park for the citizens of San Fernando and environs immediately and for all the citizens of TT.”
The project is scheduled for completion on April 4, 2022.
SWRHA deputy chairman Valerie Alleyne-Rawlins said that this project will not only be relief for parking at the Waterfront but also for the San Fernando General Hospital, as the land is in a busy area, and is part of the access to the emergency department.
