Two years no competition and T&T track athletes still shine at the Carifta Games

Due to COVID-19 restrictions/lockdown Trinidad and Tobago athletes were unable to properly train for upcoming world events – nor were they able to compete at the games due to the Coronavirus – however that did not stop the country’s young stars from shining.

After two full years of no competition and or training, T&T’s junior track and field athletes have risen to the occasion at the 49th edition of the Carifta Games being held in Jamaica.

Team TTO has 10 Medals just after Day 1.

The following list outlines the country’s medals –

Aaron Antoine – GOLD – Boys U20 – High Jump – 2.16m

Keeran Sriskandarajah – GOLD – Boys U17 – 1500m – 4:10.58

Tenique Vincent – SILVER – Girls U17 – High Jump – 1.65m

Anthony Diaz – SILVER – Boys U20 – Javelin – 63.69m

Kayleigh Forde – SILVER – Girls U17 – 1500m – 4:52,14

Andrew Steele – SILVER – Boys U17 – Long Jump – 6.61m

Jaden James – BRONZE – Boys U20 – Discus – 52.28m

Troy Llanos – BRONZE – Boys U20 – 1500m – 4:01.47

Kaiyin Morris – BRONZE – Boys U17 – 400m – 49.01

Shaniqua Bascombe – BRONZE – Girls U20 – 100m – 11.57
