Two more UNC members show support for Kamla Persad-Bissessar as the party’s political leader

Milton Matura Chairman, Dr Roodal Moonilal says the Oropouche East Executive of United National Congress congratulates their Political Leader, Ms. Kamla Persad-Bissessar S.C. on securing the popular vote at Monday’s parliamentary elections.

In a media release issued this afternoon, Dr. Moonilal said the results confirm that Ms. Persad-Bissessar had the widest national support among all political leaders.

“The Executive and Member of Parliament elect warmly endorse Ms. Persad-Bissessar as the UNC’s Political Leader and as Trinidad and Tobago’s Opposition Leader.”

Dr. Moonilal said “she is undoubtedly the most qualified and publicly favoured person currently engaged in national service.”

Meanwhile, Naparima MP elect Rodney Charles and the Naparima Constituency Executive headed by Nazroodeen Mohammed today met in emergency session this morning and unanimously agreed to fully endorse and publicly support Mrs. Kamla Persad Bissessar as Political Leader of the UNC Leader of the Opposition in Parliament if the EBC declares otherwise.

“We note that the UNC won the popular vote by a reported plurality of 40,622 votes. It further noted that the party did not contest any seats in Tobago and of the reported approximate 355,191 votes in Trinidad alone the UNC gained approximately 55,686 more than the PNM,” said Charles.
Charles said “in our view the political leader ran an imaginative, thought provoking, innovative, policy based campaign that found favour with the majority of voters from all demographic groups, especially the youth.”
“In the circumstances we support Mrs. Bissessar as the Political Leader of the UNC and strongly oppose those calling for her removal.”

Why these people could lie so. PNM won the popular vote in 2015 and this 2020 elections.
