Two men fined for stealing Pomerac

Two men were fined a total of $3,500, and ordered to keep the peace for two years or in default pay $5,000. The two were also ordered to pay $668 each to the victim for stealing pomerac.
They appeared before the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court yesterday to answer to the charges of larceny agricultural produce, and being on cultivated lands without permission.
The men of Cunapo Southern Road, Coal Mine, Sangre Grande appeared before Magistrate Cheron Raphael, where they pleaded guilty to the offences.
ARNOLD MOHAMMED, 31, was fined $2,000, or in default face three weeks hard labour. While DANNYBOY SALAZAR, 45, was fined $1,500.
On May 26th, officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station received information that two men were seen harvesting Pomerac at Harrinanan Trace.
The officers made their way into the bushy area, when PC Keron Nanan, discovered the men placing the fruits into buckets.
The men attempted to run, but were quickly apprehended and taken to the police station where they were formally charged.
Other officers involved in the exercise were PCs Ashki Charles, Carlus Dabreo and WPC Natalie Phillip.
