Two men charged with raping 16-year-old girl

Two men, aged 25 and 29, are expected to appear virtually before an Arima Magistrate on Wednesday charged with the abduction of a female and sexual penetration of a minor.

The duo surrendered to officers of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) on Tuesday.

According to the 16-year-old girl, she boarded a PH taxi at Five Rivers Junction, Arouca, to be taken to her home.

Both occupants, the driver and front-seat passenger, were persons known to her as they lived in her area.

Instead of taking her home, the men reportedly took her to Victory Heights, Arouca, where they allegedly forced her out of the car, held her down and both took turns sexually assaulting her without her consent.

After the ordeal, the girl made a report to the police who conducted enquiries and subsequently launched a manhunt for the suspects.

The men, however surrendered to CPU officers at the Belmont Police Station.

They were both charged and will answer to the offences when the matter is heard today.
