Two men were caught in the act as they attempted to steal a quantity of alcohol from an Arima bar on Sunday night.
The men, a 45-year-old and a 40-year-old, both of Arima, were arrested in connection with the incident.
Around 10:45p.m, officers of the Arima Criminal Investigations Department, the Northern Division’s Emergency Response Patrol and Northern Division’s Area East Task Force, responded to a report of a larceny in progress at a bar located at the corner of Queen and Devenish Streets in Arima.
Upon arrival at the location, officers observed a man standing outside the establishment with a black bag in his possession. A search was conducted resulting in officers finding a hammer inside the bag.
Further checks of the premises resulted in another male suspect being found hiding inside the bar area, with a white bag containing a quantity of alcoholic beverages in his possession.
It is believed the men gained entrance to the premises by breaking a glass window.
Investigations are ongoing.
