Two men arrested for cursing police during search for escaped prisoner

Police were forced to apprehend two people in the Biche area on Monday, after they were cursed by the individuals during a search for prison escapee Devon Lewis.

Lewis, 34, pf Charuma Village, Biche, escaped from police custody on Sunday.

However, during a search for him on Monday afternoon officers were met with some hostile words.

Reports are that members of the Sangre Grande CID and the Eastern Division Special Operations Unit were searching for Lewis in Cushe Trace, Biche, at around 6.30 pm when they saw him hiding behind a house.

A chase ensued but Lewis managed to evade capture once again.

During the chase, people in the area began crowding the road and cursing at the police.
Two men, ages 30 and 21 were subsequently arrested for using obscene language and resisting arrest.

Eastern Division police are continuing their searches for Lewis.
