Two in Court for sexual acts to girls, 9, 14

Two men, aged 22 and 25, were granted bail when they appeared Monday before the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court on sexual charges against two girls.

A TTPS report states that in the first incident, a 22-year-old man was granted $100,000 bail with a surety after being charged with sexual touching of a child on April 24th. He was also made to report to his local police station twice a week as part of his bail conditions.

The sexual touching charge stemmed from a report made by a  nine-year-old girl that earlier this month, while at her father’s house located in Diego Martin, a man touched her private part while her father was not at home.

Following investigations by WPC Pamphile, of the Western Division Child Protection Unit (CPU), the suspect was charged.

In the second incident, a 25-year-old Vincentian was granted $200,000 bail with a surety after being charged with sexual penetration of a 14-year-old girl on April 26th.

The accused was also made to present himself to his local police station twice a week.

He was charged by W/Cpl (Ag.) Dedier-Campbell, of the Western Division CPU, who led investigations into the report which alleged that the accused had sexual intercourse with the girl at a house in Rich Plain, Diego Martin.

During the investigation, WPC Dedier-Campbell discovered that in April 2019, the girl, dressed in her school uniform, met the accused at a fast food restaurant in St. James, where she was then taken to a house in Diego Martin and sexually assaulted.

Both men are scheduled to reappear before the court on
May 20th, 2021.

Both investigations were spearheaded by W/Superintendent (Ag.)
Guy-Alleyne and supervised by ASP (Ag.) Roberts and Sgt James. The arrest of the suspects was also made possible due to the assistance of the Inter-Agency Task Force, headed by Senior Superintendent (Ag.) Oswain Subero.
