Two Charged With Possession Of Firearms Following Raid In Barataria.

Two men are expected to appear virtually before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate today charged with firearm and ammunition offences.

JOSIAH LEONCE, also known as ‘Ras’, 21, of Jogie Road, Barataria, was charged today with possession of one black Glock nine millimetre pistol along with one magazine and seven rounds of nine millimetre ammunition.

Meanwhile, DANIEL BARZEY, 37, of Upper 6th Avenue, Malick, was also charged today with possession of one black and gold Glock nine millimeter pistol along with one magazine and 13 Trinidad and Tobago Regiment rounds of nine millimetre ammunition.

Both men were arrested on October 13th, during a North-Eastern Division Task Force Operation Strike Back Three exercise.

According to police reports, acting on information received on illegal firearms, police officers executed two search warrants at the home of two suspects where they allegedly discovered the illegal items.

The items were seized and the men subsequently arrested in connection with the finds.

The suspects were charged following further investigations by PCs McKnight and Cato of the NEDTF, respectively.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service thanks the public for the uptick in information on illegal firearms through the partnership with CRIME STOPPERS Trinidad and Tobago, which is resulting in the increase of seizures of firearms and the arrests of suspects.

The public is encouraged to report anonymously to CRIME STOPPERS by calling 800-TIPS.
