Two appear in Court charged with fraud

Two persons were granted bail in the sum of $80,000 when they appeared before an Arima Magistrate, charged with Fraudulent Conversion of $17,000.

TRICIA OLIVER, aka Keisha Dobson, 43, and CECIL MORRIS, 68, both of Arima, were charged with the offence when they appeared before Magistrate Brambhanan Dubay, in the Arima Magistrates’ Court on Friday 6th January, 2023.

They pleaded not guilty, were granted bail and the matter adjourned to February 3rd, 2023.

A victim reported to police that during the period May 2022 to July 2022, they paid two persons sums totalling $17,000 as part payment for the construction of cupboards and the purchase of a kitchen sink to be installed within six weeks after the payment was made.

The victim alleges the persons failed to build the cupboards and purchase the sink as promised and efforts to recover the money proved futile.

The matter was investigated by WPC Campbell of the Fraud Squad, Sangre Grande Office.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the matter on January 4th, 2023 in the Arima district.

Investigations were supervised by Snr. Supt. Groome, Supt. Reuben and Sgt. Bassarath.

The accused were charged by WPC Campbell on Thursday 5th January, 2023.
