Twin brothers wounded in cutlass attack – one of them has a cracked skull

Shaffick Mohammed, one half of a twin injured in a cutlass attack on Sunday morning, is fighting for his life at hospital following the incident, which is said to be the result of a family feud.

Shaffick and his brother Sadiq, both 28, were attacked outside their home in Woodland around 7 a.m. yesterday.
The incident left Shaffick with a chop wound to the head while Sadiq was chopped to the left hand and shoulder.

Reports are that the two were at Shaffick’s home off Pluck Road, when a van with four men from the opposite side of the feuding family pulled up outside and called out to them.

Relatives told police the men came out with bottles, stones and cutlasses and when Shaffick appeared, the men pounced on him and started to beat and chop him.

His twin came out to save him and also got chopped in the melee.

The four attackers then returned to the van and sped off.

The twins were rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital, where doctors notified the family that Shaffick’s skull was fractured and that he was expected to undergo surgery.

Relatives said two factions of the family have been feuding for generations and this was not the first such incident.
