Turtle Beach Hotel sold to Sunwing Airlines; now called Starfish Resort

The Turtle Beach Hotel in Tobago is now under new management and has a new name.

Tobago House of Assembly Chief Secretary, Ancil Dennis, has revealed that the owners of Sunwing Airlines have purchased the hotel and have renamed it Starfish Resort.

Sunwing Airlines is a Canada-based budget airline that operated a weekly flight to Tobago before T&T closed its borders on March 23.

Dennis also revealed that prior to the pandemic, plans were in place for the Magdalena Grand Beach and Golf Resort to be sold to the Apple Leisure Group.

Unfortunately, he said, due to the pandemic and our borders being closed,, “those developments have significantly slowed.”

Apple Leisure Group is an American travel and hospitality conglomerate focused on packaged travel and resort/brand management in Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. It is the parent corporation of resort and brand management company AMResorts.
