Vice President of the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) Kyrla Robinson-Thomas says a lot of new buildings have been constructed by the Ministry, but students have not been able to occupy them for a number of reasons.
She said in one case, residents of the area have occupied the school and have been issuing threats to students and teachers.
Robinson-Thomas said if the Association were to stick to Health and Safety Regulations, they would advise their teachers to stay away from the schools.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education Anthony Garcia said that there are schools that need maintenance, he isn’t aware that any of the schools are in a state where they cannot be occupied by teachers or students.
