TTUTA raises concerns over MOE’s option for SEA students to defer exam to 2022

TTUTA has highlighted concerns regarding the Education Ministry’s option to SEA students to defer writing the exam until 2022.

According to the Ministry of Education, parents must submit a written deferral request to the principal of the school stating the reason for the request along with any supporting documentation available.

The requests will be reviewed by class teachers along with principals who will then submit it to the Ministry by May 17th.

TTUTA President, Antonia De Freitas told Power 102 FM’s Power Breakfast Show today that the deferral does not help the situation.

She detailed some examples of the stresses facing students and teachers leading up to the exams.

Ms De Freitas claimed that given the mental effects of the circumstances on teachers and students there must be other options available to consider apart from either sitting the exam on June 10th or deferring it.
