TT’s Covid-19 vaccination programme has stalled

Just as the country reported 22 deaths from the Covid-19 virus yesterday—the second-highest in 24 hours, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh revealed that the country’s vaccination programme has stalled.

The minister, who spoke at Saturday’s media briefing at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, said: “Over the past two weeks, we have been averaging roughly about 1,200 per day between first doses of a two-dose regime and the Johnson and Johnson one shot.”

This is down from figures of up to 16,000 a day at one point.

Deyalsingh said this is now coupled with an increasing rolling average of Covid cases, which sits at 430, and high ICU levels.
