TTPS warns of offences during Local Gov’t Elections

During the weekly media briefing on Wednesday morning, Superintendent Wayne Mystar, Public Information Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), said that the job of police officers on the day of the Local Government Elections is to prevent and detect election offences, in and around polling stations.

Mystar then discussed a few of these offences.

He said police officers will also ensure that the ballot boxes are submitted to returning officers free from tampering, and discussed nomination papers and ballot boxes.

The Local Government Elections takes place next Monday, December 2 from 6:00am to 6:00p.m. Schools will be closed on that day to facilitate the election process, as some schools will be used as polling centres.
