TTPS warns against circulating video with minor

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) says it is aware that a video clip has been circulating on social media, which allegedly depicts a female minor being sexually assaulted by an adult male while seated in the back seat of a vehicle.

In a release on Saturday evening, they said while it has become commonplace to share videos and pics of topical and trending stories via social media, in this particular instance, doing so is contrary to the Children’s Act Chpt 46:01, S.40 Subsection 1 (B), which states:
to publish, distribute, transmit child pornography, anyone who contravenes this law is liable on conviction on indictment to a fine of $30,000 and imprisonment for 10 years.

In this regard, the TTPS is asking persons to cease and desist from sharing the video clip in question.
The TTPS would also like to inform the public that a report was made to the Northern Division Child Protection Unit by the victim and her father on Wednesday 2nd March, 2022. Police conducted inquiries and a suspect was arrested on the same date. The man was formerly charged with the offence of sexual touching of a child on Thursday 3rd March, 2022. He appeared virtually before the Tunapuna First Magistrates’ Court virtually yesterday and he was remanded into custody pending a tracing.
