TTPS vows to provide positive character building values in schools

The Police Service is determined to do its part in a bid to help instil traditional values which have been lost along the way in the socialisation of the nation’s children.

Challenges in this area have resulted in violence and indiscipline in schools.

This was underscored by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Criminal Division, Winston Maharaj.

Speaking during Monday’s Joint Select Committee on National Security, Mr Maharaj took note of the importance of other groups in nurturing and guiding young people.

However, Mr. Maharaj said somewhere gaps have arisen in this area and the TTPS has been doing its part to provide the coverage necessary to reinstate positive character building values, respect and mannerism.

Mr Maharaj said several measures have been put in place to meet the needs of parents and children.
