TTPS Urges Road Users To Be Cautious This Holiday Weekend

Non compliance with the wearing of a seat belt is the number one ticketed offence, according to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

TTPS Road Safety Coordinator, Sergeant, Brent Batson, said the increased use of mobile phones while driving is another offence which has been noticed by police officers.

Added to this is the number persons driving without insurance.

Speaking at the weekly TTPS news briefing on Thursday, Sergeant Batson said drivers should be on the lookout for vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians as there have been three pedestrian deaths so far this year compared to twelve last year.

Sergeant Batson said the population should enjoy themselves during the holidays but be responsible while doing so.
