TTPS to receive close to $600M

Finance Minister Colm Imbert has debunked all the ‘ole talk’ that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is continuously underfunded, by allocating them a total of $600 million for 2021.

During his presentation of the mid-year review of the 2021 Budget in Parliament yesterday.
Imbert pointed out that the Police Service, which got $300 million in the 2021 Budget, received an additional $57 million in the Supplementation and Variation bill passed in Parliament.

The TTPS also received a $200 million loan to pay off previous bills, which in total means that they will receive almost $600m in 2021.

Imbert said the extra $57m funding will deal with TTPS goods and supplies including service providers, vehicle rental, equipment and weapons.
One all liabilities are cleared, he said the TTPS will have almost $400m for goods and services for 2021.
