TTPS Probe Into Omicron Positive Traveler Intensifying, Says National Security Minister

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is swiftly moving ahead with its investigation into the circumstance surrounding the entry of this country first case of the Omicron variant.

Providing an update in the Parliament today, Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds expanded on the matter, in which a T&T national provided inaccurate information on the TT Travel Pass, entering the country despite being covid positive.

The woman entered Trinidad from Panama on December 9 after arriving there from New York City. In the United States, she presented authorities with a positive PCR test and was allowed to board. She then showed a negative antigen test to Copa Airlines and travelled to her final destination, the Piarco International Airport. 

Minister Hinds stated he said he was looking forward to the woman being held accountable for her actions.
