TTPS make breakthrough in motor vehicle larceny ring

Officers of the North Eastern Division have made a major breakthrough into a motor vehicle larceny ring, with the arrest of two suspects during an intelligence-led operation conducted in the Division on Friday 3rd June, 2022.
The operation also included officers of the Gang and Intelligence Units.
Following a period of intelligence gathering activities on larceny motor vehicle offenders, the team of officers put the operation into effect following an increase in larceny motor vehicles within the Division and the large number of vehicles being recovered in the Division which were reported stolen from other Divisions.
During the exercise, the NED Gang Unit seized one white Nissan Wingroad wagon motor vehicle and arrested two men who are suspected to have been involved in several motor vehicle larcenies in the Southern Division. The officers also recovered one grey Nissan Wingroad wagon, which was stolen from the South Oropouche district earlier this week.
A total of six motor vehicles which were reported stolen have been recovered in the North Eastern Division alone due to the diligent work by the officers.
A third suspect was detained in connection with the larcenies on Saturday 4th June, 2022 by officers of the North Eastern Division Crime Patrol Unit.
The three suspects are to be handed over to officers of the Southern and South Western Divisions as investigations are ongoing.
