TTPS, Consular Corps commit to greater collaboration

There is to be a greater degree of communication, collaboration and transnational training between the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and the Consular Corps of Trinidad and Tobago.

This follows a meeting Friday at the Commissioner’s Conference Room, Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain, with Commissioner of Police (Ag.) Erla Christopher, Deputy Commissioners of Police (Ag.) Administration, Ramnarine Samaroo and Intelligence and Investigations, Curt Simon, and Honorary Consuls of Portugal, William A. Ferreira and Slovenia, Om Lalla.

The meeting was the first in-person since the Pandemic.
Among the issues discussed were trending crimes, illegal drug trade, interpretation services and transnational training for police officers from this jurisdiction by member states of the Consular Corps.

The TTPS’ top brass assured the representatives of the Consular Corps that policies and mechanisms will continue to be introduced, such as providing liaison officers to treat further concerns that may arise in the future.

Admitting that there has “always been a healthy dialogue between the Police Service and the Consular Corps,” Honorary Consul Lalla reiterated the Corps’ “commitment to collaborate with TTPS to ensure the safety and security of its members and the wider society.”
