Met Office monitors Tropical Wave in the Atlantic

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) said that it has been closely monitoring a Tropical Wave in the Atlantic which has a 30% chance of development over the next 48 hours.

The system is located approximately 1200 km east of the Lesser Antilles, centred near 11N 49W and is moving westward near 25 km/hr.

Current analyses suggest that on its projected track, activity associated with the Tropical Wave is forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday 14th October.

Regardless of its development, this system will likely produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall across portions of the Windward and Leeward islands from the evening of Wednesday 14th October 2020 into Thursday 15th October 2020.

The TTMS will continue to closely monitor this system and will issue an update at 10:00 am tomorrow or earlier if the situation warrants.

As always, persons should pay close attention to information being issued by the TTMS by visiting www.metoffice.gov.tt.

Additionally, the TTMS said that rain is expected over a few areas.

There is also a medium chance of isolated thunderstorm activity.

Tonight will be generally fair apart from isolated showers.

The risk of street flooding and gusty winds will be present.
