T&TEC Signs Power Purchase Agreement For Solar Power Plant

History was made on Friday with the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement between the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission  and consortium partners, for the country’s first utility scale solar PV project.

T&TEC and a consortium comprising bpTT, Shell Trinidad and Tobago Limited and Lightsource BP signed the agreement to develop two solar power plants at Brechin Castle and Orange Grove, providing 112 megawatts of power.

Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales, applauded the initiative as a significant step in the right direction, as it is an important pillar in  pursuit of a sustainable and secure energy future.

Minister of Energy and Energy, Stuart Young,  congratulated all involved for this “milestone for T&T,” saying this fits into the context of Trinidad and Tobago being a global leader in natural gas, LNG, pet/chem and now renewable energy.
