T&TEC restores electricity to customers in Maracas/Las Cuevas/la Fillette and Blanchisseuse

Arising out of the incident on Sunday 20th December, 2020 which affected customers in the Maracas/Las Cuevas/La Fillette and Blanchisseuse areas, the Commission was able to restore supply to 95% of the customers by deploying four (4) of its mobile substations.

The crews continued to work assiduously to resolve the issues and have successfully energized the circuits and are in the process of restoring full supply to all affected customers.

The Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales and the Member of Parliament for St. Ann’s East (which includes Las Cuevas), Dr. Nyan Gasby-Dolly, visited T&TEC’s personnel on site and held discussions with Management as well as some members of the crews.

They expressed concern over the length of the outage to the many customers, especially at this time of year, but also encouraged T&TEC to continue its efforts towards the restoration of supply.

Although supply is being restored, the mobile substations will remain de-energized in the area over the Christmas season.

T&TEC says it apologises for the inconvenience caused and reaffirms its commitment in providing a safe and reliable supply to all its customers.
