TTCG makes drug bust

On 06 December 2020, while conducting border security patrols, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) observed a vessel that had crossed the border and entered into the territorial waters of Trinidad and Tobago from Venezuela.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard in a media release issued this evening said it pursued the vessel, which dumped several packages overboard during the chase.

The TTCG was able to retrieve several crocus bags that contained individually wrapped packages of a green plant-like substance inside.

The crew, the packages and the vessel were handed over to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Customs Division and Immigration Division. Investigations are continuing.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard continues to provide border security services in the face of the threat of Covid-19 in order to maintain the safety and security of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago through the conduct of maritime security patrols within our area of operations.
