TTCG intercepts vessel crossing the border from Venezuela into T&T waters

On 26 April 2020, while conducting border security patrols, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) detained a vessel named ‘JESUS IS KING’ when it came ashore in the Cedros/Icacos area.

The vessel had been observed crossing the border from Venezuela into Trinidad and Tobago waters. On board were three (3) male Trinidad and Tobago Nationals.

Upon searching the vessel, a large cargo of shrimp and fish was discovered.

The crew was interviewed and it was revealed that the contents of the vessel were acquired in Venezuela.

The vessel and its crew and cargo were handed over to representatives of the Trinidad and
Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Customs and Excise Division and Immigration Division.
Investigations are continuing.

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard ha said they will  to provide border security services in the face of the threat of Covid-19 in order to maintain the safety and security of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago through the conduct of maritime security patrols within our area of operations.
