TTCG deployed ships to SVG captained by Britannia Royal Naval College trained officers

Subsequent to the eruptions of the La Soufrière Volcano on 09 April 2021 the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) deployed ships Captained by Lieutenant (Naval) J. Robinson and Lieutenant (Naval) V. Valentine to render assistance to CARICOM neighbours in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Both Captains joined the TTCG with a batch of four (4) Officer Cadets in November 2010.

They attended Britannia Royal Naval College UK, for Initial Officer Training in 2012.

Upon successful completion, they graduated in May 2013 and were promoted to the rank of Midshipman. Lt (N) V. Valentine and Lt (N) J Robinson went on to complete their first Navigation Training at the Maritime Warfare School HMS Collingwood, England in 2014.

Additionally, they both crossed the Atlantic to bring home the newly acquired Stan Patrol Vessels 5009 (SPA).

Both Captains were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant (Naval) in 2018 and began Captaincy training and held numerous command postings in preparation for full command. Fast forward to 2021 they both made their first international solo voyage to SVG. Lt (N) V. Valentine and Lt (N) J Robinson have had the privilege of sharing their naval career and celebrating accomplishments together.
