TT To Benefit From Restructured Atlantic LNG Says The Energy Minister

Trinidad and Tobago will benefit immensely under a restructured Atlantic LNG the negotiations for which are still ongoing.

Minister of the Energy and Energy Industries, Stuart Young, says at present details of the negotiations cannot be made public.

Mr Young was asked by the Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, on Friday what is the National Gas Company’s shareholding in the restructured Atlantic LNG; and when did the new structure of Atlantic LNG take effect.

However, Mr Young said at this time deliberations continue and the nation will be in a much better place when the process is finally completed.

He added the price structure which the government has negotiated over the past few years has resulted in over 17 billion dollars which is additional income for the country that the nation would not have received.

Mr Young said these are confidential commercial agreements that are currently being negotiated.

Over the last four years when the deliberations started the nation has been informed of the progress made and a similar approach will be adopted when it is time to do so.

Mr Young said the final shareholding will be an increased share holding for the people of Trinidad and Tobago at no additional costs.
