The public is being warned to look our for scammers pretending to be affiliated to the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society (TTRCS).
This follows a spate of fraudulent attempts involving individuals posing as representatives of the organisation to defraud local supermarkets.
According to the TTRCS, the fraudsters have been placing orders at various supermarkets, falsely claiming to be affiliated with the organisation.
In a release issued yesterday, the TTRCS urged members of the Supermarkets Association of Trinidad and Tobago to exercise caution when dealing with such orders.
The TTRCS emphasises that it followed strict professional best-practice policies in its procurement processes.
Stakeholders were advised to contact the organisation directly at 612-2724, extension 239 or 228 to verify the authenticity of any orders from individuals claiming to be from the TTRCS.
Alternatively, inquiries can be emailed to [email protected].
The organisation said it was working closely with the T&T Police Service to investigate the matter.
