T&T off to a golden start at 2022 Carifta Games

Trinidad and Tobago’s young and upcoming athletes kickstarted the 2022 Carifta Games with a bang and secured medals on Day 1 of the event at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

Tenique Vincent opened the T&T medal account in the morning session, winning Silver in the High Jump, after she cleared the bar at 1.65 metres in the Girls Under-17 high jump.
The 14-year-old athlete enjoyed first-time clearances at 1.45 metres, 1.50, 1.55 and 1.60. At 1.65, she went over on her second attempt.

Aaron Antoine and Keeran Sriskandarajah struck gold for Trinidad and Tobago.
Antoine went over the bar at 2.16 metres to top the Boys Under-20 high jump field. The winning jump is a new T&T Under-20 record.

Sriskandarajah returned a time of four minutes, 10.58 seconds to claim top spot in the Boys Under-17 1500 metres.

Kayleigh Forde bagged silver for T&T in the Girls Under-17 1500m, clocking 4:52.14.

In the Boys Under-20 javelin, Anthony Diaz copped silver, as his spear landed at 63.69 metres.

Andrew Steele, who bagged Silver in the Boys Under 17 Long Jump at 6.61meters
Shaniqua Bascombe, Bronze, Girls Under 20, 100m -11.57seconds
Jaden James, Bronze, Boys Under 17 Discuss – 52.28meters.
Troy Llanos, Bronze, Boys Under 20, 1500m in a time of 4:01.47
Kaiyn Morris, Bronze, Boys Under 17, 400m – 49.01seconds
