TT Met Service Monitoring Disturbed Weather East Of Southern Windwards Islands

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is monitoring an area of disturbed weather, near 40W or approximately 1609 km east of the Southern Windward Islands.

At 8:00 am today an increase in showers and thunderstorm activity was observed.

Development is possible during the next two days while it moves westward to west-northwestward across the central tropical Atlantic.

Afterwards, conditions are expected to become more conducive for development and a tropical depression is likely to form within the next seven days while the system approaches and then moves near or over the Lesser Antilles.

The system is forecast to continue moving generally west-northwestward direction.

On this current track, this system should not directly impact Trinidad and Tobago.

There are currently no watches or warnings in effect for Trinidad and Tobago.

The TTMS continues to monitor this area of disturbed weather and will issue an update at midday tomorrow, Monday 12 August, 2024 or earlier if the situation warrants.
