T&T in talks with the U.S to access AstraZeneca vaccines

Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley wrote to the U.S President, Joseph Biden in a bid to acquire Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccines for Trinidad and Tobago and other CARICOM nations.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne disclosed that USA will be making 60 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines available to the global community.

In a Facebook post this afternoon Minister Browne said “I have already dialogued with the US Embassy in PoS and our team in Washington is following up so that our nation and region benefit substantially from the US offer.”

The letter with which Dr. Rowley wrote, dated March 19, 2021 states that given the region’s current crisis with getting a grip of the virus and in addition to U.S citizens constant trips to and from the Caribbean; it will be of benefit to the state to share a quantity of its vaccines with CARICOM nations.
