TT & IDB sign loan contracts to enhance water supply

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley witnessed the signing of the loan contract agreements between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Inter-American Development Bank at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s on Tuesday.

The IDB financing will be used to enhance the efficiency and quality of our water supply.

The specific objectives of the loan programme are to improve:
– The operational efficiency and reliability of water supply services.
– Improve the quality of water services for underserved communities in the country.
– Develop capacity and provide institutional strengthening to the Ministry of Public Utilities and the Water and Sewerage Authority.

Minister of Planning and Development, Pennelope Beckles and the President of the Inter-American Development Bank, Mr Ilan Goldfajn signed the agreement.

Also present at the signing were the Minister of Public Utilities, Marvin Gonzales and Mr Robert Le Hunte, Executive Director, Country Representative for Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica at the Inter-American Development Bank.
