T&T facing possible increase in fuel prices

Trinbagonians may soon face higher gas prices at the pump as Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has warned that a decision will soon be taken on whether to adjust the fuel subsidy based on rising oil prices.

He gave the apparent warning during last evening’s “Conversations with the Prime Minister” programme.

Dr Rowley explained that oil prices crossing $100 a barrel is not necessarily good news for Trinidad and Tobago as the country’s production levels are not as high as they once were.

Dr Rowley added that given the rising oil prices, the Government may have to take a loan in order to maintain the subsidy.
