TSTT Retrenchment Not Before The Gov’t At This Time, Says PM Rowley

The issue of retrenchment at the Telecommunications Services of Trinidad and Tobago is not before the government at this time.

Confirmation of this came from Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley during the question and answer period in the parliament Friday afternoon.

This as the Opposition Bench questioned how many workers will become unemployed as a result of the Company’s restructuring exercise.

However, Dr Rowley made it clear the government, which is a shareholder in the company, is not a part of the deliberations taking place between the entity and the Communications Workers Union.

Dr Rowley said the government awaits an update on this issue when the process is completed.

The Prime Minister assured the government will be responsible in its actions pertaining to this development.
