Tropical Wave expected to bring heavy rain on Thursday

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has been closely monitoring a Tropical Wave in the Atlantic which has a 20% chance of development over the next 48 hours.

The system is located approximately 800 km east of the Lesser Antilles, centred near 11N 49W and is moving westward near 25 km/hr.

Current analyses suggest that on its projected track, activity associated with the Tropical Wave is forecast to reach the Lesser Antilles on Wednesday.

Regardless of development, this system will likely produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall across portions of the Northern Windward and Leeward islands from the evening of Wednesday, and across Trinidad and Tobago from early morning on Thursday.

The TTMS will continue to closely monitor this system and will issue an update at 10:00 am tomorrow or earlier if the situation warrants.

As always, persons should pay close attention to information being issued by the TTMS by visiting www.metoffice.gov.tt, downloading our mobile app (search: TT Met Office), and following the Met Office on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
