Triple murder, double murder, takes murder toll to 67

The murder toll now stands at 67 with the triple-murder, double-murder and shooting that occurred with 24 hours on Tuesday.

In the first instance, police were called to the scene of a triple-murder near to the Rancho Quemado Government Primary School around 6:00p.m. Officers found three men with multiple gunshot wounds about the body in a car and a fourth man lay on the ground outside of the car, bleeding. He was taken to the Siparia District Health Facility where he was treated for his injuries.

He is warded in a critical condition at hospital.

In the second instance, 49-year-old Marlon “Triple” La Guerre from Embacadere was murdered at his home.

Around 8:00a.m, his 19-year-old son Isaiah Mason was standing a short distance away from their home when he heard gunshot wounds coming from the direction of his house.

He ran home and found his father, La Guerre, bleeding from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died.

Sources say that the killer wore a mask and dark-coloured clothing, and that he had appeared from a side street near Circle Drive in Emabacadere. They said La Guerre had recently returned home after dropping his children to school. His dog, a mastiff, was also shot during the incident.

Residents say they knew who the killer is, and police said he is known to them for having a record of robberies and drugs offences.

Police searched the area for the suspect but they did not find him.

Meanwhile, police continued to search for the suspects responsible for the early-morning double-murder in Arima.

Around 2:10 a.m two men where shot dead while standing outside of Ram­baran’s Bar on Tumpuna Road in Ari­ma. The men have been iden­ti­fied as 20-year-old Ron­dell Samuel and 24-year-old Rahim Mitchell both of Phase 1, La Hor­quet­ta.

Reports indicate that two gunmen approached Samuel and Mitchell and opened fire on them. They died on the spot. The suspects then ran towards the highway where they escaped in a waiting vehicle.

Two other person, 29-year-old Mer­cedes Di­az of Venezuela and 26-year-old Shaquille Ifill were injured during the incident. Diaz was shot on her finger while Ifill was shot in his left shoulder. They were taken to the Arima Health Facility then transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex for treatment.

Police are continuing investigations into all the murders.
