Trinidad and Tobago appoints new Consul General in Miami

The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne, on Friday presented Ms. Joanne Brooks with her Instrument of Appointment as Consul General for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Miami, United States of America.

The appointment of a new Consul General will facilitate the advancement of the Government’s thrust towards enhanced relations and engagement with the Diaspora of Trinidad and Tobago in Miami and the wider consular area served by the Consulate General.

The new Consul General will also lead Trinidad and Tobago’s efforts in Miami to improve services to the Consulate General’s clients and relations with other stakeholders, with respect to consular and immigration support, development and expansion of commercial relationships and enhanced opportunities for various sectors, including in the creative sphere (music and fashion, for example).

Ms. Brooks is a career Diplomat with 15 years’ experience in the Trinidad and Tobago Foreign Service at Headquarters and at the Embassy of Trinidad and Tobago in Brussels. Her experience includes coordination of several trade, cultural and tourism agreements between Trinidad and Tobago and Central America and regional and international conferences.

Prior to her appointment, Ms. Brooks headed the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) Unit of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.
