Trinibad singer ‘Plumpy Boss’ charged with gang related offences

A Trinibad singer known as Plumpy Boss has been placed on $350,000 bail after being charged with a string of gang related offenses.

Plumpy Boss, born Mescach Emmanuel, appeared before Master Shabaana Shah at the Master 4, North Court, Port of Spain on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old, of Beetham Gardens, Port of Spain, was charged on Monday 1st July with the following offenses:

– Being a gang member, contrary to Section 5(1)(b) of the Anti-Gang Act 4 of 2021 as amended.

– Professing to be a gang member in order to intimidate persons, contrary to Section 5(1)(d)(ii) of the Anti-Gang Act 4 of 2021 as amended.

– Professing to be a gang member in order to promote a gang, contrary to Section 5(1)(d)(iii) of the Anti-Gang Act 4 of 2021 as amended.

Emmanuel was arrested on 29th June, 2024, after officers from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) – Gang Investigations Team conducted investigations into several audio-visual music videos published on social media. The music videos allegedly featured the accused professing to be a member of a gang.

As part of the bail conditions, the accused must report once a week to a specified police station. The matter was adjourned to 26th July 2024.
